We may, later, compile a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section, where you may find your English-related question and see it answered before you even have to strike a key or click a mouse. Until then, type away! You’ll get some good advice, options, and maybe even some conflicting advice. Hey, like most couples, no two editors agree on everything. |

Pet Peeves
No, we’re not talking dog or cat hair on the new couch here. We like to share English language-related written or spoken stuff that makes us roll our eyes to the heavens (as steam pours out of our ears). This is the place to vent about our surprising, ever-changing—or not changing fast enough—language. E.g., “Egads! Impact has virtually replaced affect. Bleah! Horsefeathers! Agnes, fetch me my jug o’ punch!” |

Typos
Aah, they abound! They come from every possible point and level of origination: personal e-mails (all originators remain anonymous—they’ve suffered enough) all the way up the venerable daily newspapers, weekly national news magazines, and nightly broadcasters and sportscasters, all of whom should know better. Nothing is sacred. And everybody—believe us—makes typos. (Why? Because we edit our own stuff, or think we do). We trust submitters’ submissions. Attributions and verifications are not required. Spell-check misses are rampant. |
